Sant Jordi

The Delegation has prepared two events to celebrate Sant Jordi in 2024, which this year will be celebrated in two countries, Sweden and Denmark, in order to spread Catalan literature everywhere. The Delegate to the Nordic Countries and to the Baltic States, Montserrat Riba, will present and participate in both events.

The first event will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at the Gamla Stan Bokshandel bookstore, in Stockholm, with the conference “Catalan Literature in Sweden and the Nobel Prize mechanisms” on the Nobel Prize and Catalonia, by the Professor in Romance Languages at the University of Uppsala, Dan Nosell, and Delegate Riba.

The second will take place at the LiteraturHaus in Copenhagen, with the participation of the Catalan club CatalansDK and the Human towers team “Xiquets de Copenhagen”. There will be activities for children, such as paper rose workshops and a puppet show, as well as a contemporary dance show, a display of castles and a book exchange, among other activities, will also be organised.

Sant Jordi’s Day is a special opportunity to promote the Catalan language and literature around the world, which have a long history of success and resistance, and which are still present with more than 10 million speakers around the world.
